Some Worldbuilding notes for the Kasatha in
redsixwing's Ormarr Pathfinder game.
The Kasatha dwell in the desert North-East of the Empire. From the Pathfinder site linked above:
Living in the desert also leads to a more nomadic life, following routes through the desert to keep with the water, and their herds, drakkensteeds. While by no means domesticated, the drakkensteeds allow themselves to be "herded." The Kasatha help protect them from many of the threats of the desert, and halp find food and water. The drakkensteed in turn can be hooked up pull gear when moving from one location to another. On rare occasion, a drakkensteed will allow itself to be mounted and trained. In these exceptional events, the Kasatha are able to sell the mount for a large amount of trade goods. This is always of the drakkensteed's choosing, and the few Kasatha that tried to tame them as mounts early on learned what a mistake this could be.
Any drakkensteeds that die during the course of the year are harvested by the Kasatha. Much of the meat goes to the other drakkensteeds, who are not above eating their own in the harsh environment of the desert, but some is reserved and salt cured for the Kasatha. The hides are used to created armor and other clothing. The largest scales are collected, joined, and enchanted with Floating Disk spells that enable gear to be moved easily. The wing skin is tanned to make leather, and used for clothing or for the creation of tents. Stomachs are used for curing meat or liquid storage. Bones are used as tent poles and creating musical instruments, among other uses. Teeth and claws are used as ornamentation or weapons. All is eventually eaten or used in some fashion.
The drakkensteeds range in color from deep bronze through white gold, usually metallic, but some of the more earthy colors as well. Their backs tend to have the darker coloration, with their bellies being lighter.
There will be more to come, as I have a solid page of notes, and everything under the cut came from pretty much two lines of those notes. Building the Kasatha as I go.

Exiles from an arid world circling a red star, modern kasathas have no idea how they left their home or how to return, but they keep searching for a way back. A clannish and secretive people, they have a matriarchal society, but other races have difficulty recognizing any physical difference between females and males. Kasathas keep their mouths hidden behind clothing, and don't remove this clothing in the presence of other races. They are omnivores, but prefer meat and salty foods.
Upon reaching adulthood, many kasathas leave their clans to search the world for adventure, treasure, and ways to return to their homeworld.
